As you have heard, our beloved Tom Petty died on 2nd of October, at the age of 66. He died in the hospital, after suffering a heart attack at his home. Still, Tom Petty died peacefully, surrounded by all the people that were important to him.

This man was a much loved American rock musician, songwriter, singer, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He was a lead singer of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and a co-founder of the Traveling Wilburys. He had a number of hits, both as a solo artist and with the Heartbreakers. Thomas Earl Petty was one of the best-selling music artists of all time, right next to Elvis Presley, Elton John, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and many other artists.

He inspired thousands of people with his music, and in 2002, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Some of his most popular songs are “Learning to fly”, “Runnin’ down a Dream”, “I won’t back down”, “Free Fallin”, and “Into the Great Wide Open”.

After he died, many singers who sing different genres, such as Jason Aldean, Marty Stuart, and Kesha gave him a tribute by singing his songs. Listening to all these people singing Tom Petty’s songs is both inspiring and moving.

One of country artists who honored this rock star also was Chris Stapleton, who performed with Tom Patty earlier this year, and Stapleton talked about that day to his audience.

On the day the two of them performed together, Tom Patty said to Chris that he hopes they would sing together again. Unfortunately, Chris won’t get that opportunity, but we’re sure he will remember the day he performed with this rock star with pride and joy. That surely is an experience to remember.

On 5th of October, Chris Stapleton played Tom Petty’s cover “Learning to Fly”, together with his audience, touching our hearts.  This performance was beautiful and we invite you to watch it. Singing this song, Chris shows respect for this rock icon, while his incredible voice inspires us.
